SANTA ON WHEELS IS COMING BACK TO STOCKTON-ON-TEES! SEVEN EXCITING EVENTS TO ENJOY THIS AUTUMN AND WINTER

The weather is turning colder but there’s plenty on the horizon to encourage you to head out and enjoy some of the superb events coming up across Stockton-on-Tees.

From spooky happenings to Santa’s touring bus and fireworks to all things festive, our events programme is sure to have something that takes your fancy.

Councillor Jim Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Leisure and Culture, said: “The welcome return of our hugely popular events is a big plus for all of us and I’m sure both residents and visitors from further afield will turn out in force to enjoy themselves.

“We’ve a well-earned reputation as a destination for first-class events and the packed programme we’ve got lined up for the rest of the year is sure to offer plenty to look forward to.”

Behind the Seams

Preston Park Museum & Grounds – Tuesday 12 October 2021 to Sunday 20 February 2022

Featuring 30 well-loved outfits from the small and silver screen, including The Crown, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, It’s A Sin and Shakespeare In Love, this new collection of costumes explores the fascinating stories behind the seams.

Halloween Spooky Walk

Preston Park Museum & Grounds – Sunday 31 October (various times)

A magical bottle, the protector of the Borough, is missing and we need your help to find it and unlock its magic!

This curious Halloween quest has lots of mysterious and weird things happening, the 4pm and 5pm walks are suitable for under-11s and their adults. The twilight walks at 7pm and 8pm are aimed at older children and their adults who are set to be spooked.

Festival of Light & Colour

Stockton ARC – Wednesday 3 November, 4pm to 9pm

Our annual celebration to mark the festival of Diwali is a charming combination of culinary delights, music and entertainment.

This year it will be held both in person and in online with a series of activities and opportunities for people of all ages to get involved, all for free!

Fireworks

Stockton Riverside – Sunday 7 November, 5pm to 7pm (display at 6.30pm)

Join us for our annual fireworks spectacular, the only large-scale public display in the area!

The Stockton sky will be lit-up with a stunning array of colour and set to an exhilarating superheroes-themed soundtrack that’s sure to get the pulse racing.

Remembrance Sunday

Various locations – Sunday 14 November

Services will be held across the Borough as we fall silent for two minutes at 11am on Sunday 14 November to pay our respects and remember our armed forces who gave their lives in conflict.

Stockton Sparkles

Stockton Town Centre – Thursday 25 November to Sunday 19 December

Sparkles returns with an abundance of festive fun and entertainment including the fantastic lights switch-on to get things underway on Thursday 25 November.

There’s lots on to build the cheer of the season across the area too including light switch-ons in Billingham, Ingleby Barwick, Norton (plus Advent Trail), Thornaby (featuring the Singing Christmas Tree) and Yarm.

The ever-popular Stockton Sparkles Reindeer Lantern Parade returns at a new time of 4pm on Sunday 5 December. Join us for a moonlight parade led by beautiful Cairngorm reindeer, light artists and Santa himself that moves in a trail of colour and light through the heart of the high street.

Markets, carol singing, lantern parades in towns across the Borough and the return of the Spiegeltent are just some of the things on offer to get your Yuletide spirit well and truly flowing.

And last but certainly not least…

Santa on Wheels

Across the Borough - Thursday 16 December to Sunday 19 December

After a storming debut on the streets of the Borough last year, Santa’s special bus will again set off on a four-night tour across Stockton-on-Tees.

Expect plenty of festive cheer and party music to get you well and truly in the mood for Christmas – all lead by the big man in red himself!
