JOB HUNTING? DROP INTO THE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING HUB

A one-stop-shop to help people on their search for job and training opportunities has opened in Stockton town centre.

Stockton-on-Tees Employment and Training Hub, at Unit 36 in Wellington Square, offers a range of services for people looking for work, training, or simply to boost their skills.

The drop-in centre has trained staff on hand to help with CV writing and interview techniques, job searches, apprenticeship vacancies, and to help people find suitable skills, education and training courses.

The Hub also offers one-to-one advice as well as practical support with funding and benefit applications.

And there’s a suite of support for businesses too. As well as support with upskilling employees, growth opportunities or support for people facing redundancy, the Employment and Training Hub can help businesses to match suitable job candidates, hire apprentices, and access training packages. Businesses can also get assistance to identify recruitment funding opportunities and get access to space to hold interviews and deliver training.

Councillor Nigel Cooke, the Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, said: “We know that COVID-19 has sadly impacted some trades and there may be people who are looking for work or interested in changing jobs. We’ve worked with our partners, local employers and training providers to set up the Employment and Training Hub in Stockton so that anyone can easily pop in and get the support and advice they need, whether job hunting or looking to boost their skills and confidence.

“The support available includes everything from getting help with your CV, to preparing for an interview, getting professional advice on improving your skills and qualifications, or even changing careers. If you’re a business owner you can also get some guidance on accessing funding opportunities as well as support with recruitment, training and mentoring.

“No appointment is necessary which means you can drop in at your convenience any weekday between 10am and 4pm.”

The Employment and Training Hub is open 10am-4pm, Monday to Friday. To see the latest updates, training and job vacancies follow the Hub’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/StocktonEmploymentAndTraining
